The Worshipful Master and Brethren of The Armadale Lodge warmly extend an invitation to all Freemasons to expand their daily advancement of masonic knowledge by witnessing:

The Lodge will Tyle at 7:30pm (sharp)

Masonic Visitors will be admitted from 8:00pm.

The Worshipful Master extends an invitation for all visitors to accompany him to the Festive Board and enjoy the hospitality of our Lodge and a two (2) course festive board (beer and soft drinks included); there is no charge for our south!

Brethren of the Lodge are reminded of our business Meeting and rehearsal that will be held on Thursday, 16th February commencing at 7:30pm.

All members are summoned to attend.

OUR CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS - JUNE 2012!

The Installation on Saturday, 30th June 2012 will commence The Armadale Lodge's Centenary Masonic year!

On the day, The Grand Lodge of Western Australia, lead by the Grand Master MWBro T.F.(Frank) Hayes accompanied by the Deputy Grand Master RWBro S. A (Steve) Jansic and the active Grand Team, will conduct the ceremony of Re-Concrecration as it would have been done in 1913.

Following this ceremony the Grand Team will conduct the ceremony of Installation of our 100th Worshipful Master into the Chair of King Solomon.

A Lodge Banner especially designed for our Centenary will also be dedicated by the Grand Chaplain.

The culmination of the day will be the celebration Festive Board dinner being held at the Willow Pond Reception Centre located on Nicholson Road, Canning Vale from 6:30pm - cost TBA.

Family and friends and interested non masons are most welcome to attend the Festive Board to join in the celebrations.

The basic qualifications for becoming a Freemason are that the decision to join is made without improper inducement by others, that you believe in a ‘Supreme Being’, and that you are a law-abiding male person over the age of 21years.

If you are interested, the traditional way is to approach a Freemason known to you and express your desire to join.

OUR HISTORY

The Armadale Lodge No. 94 was the first Masonic Lodge in what is now the City of Armadale; the Lodge was constituted by the Grand Lodge of Western Australia under the sponsorship of The Victoria Park Lodge No.48.

The Grand Master the MWBro Rt. Rev.C.O.L Riley MA DD VD Archbishop of Perth, consecrated the Lodge in the Kelmscott Agricultural Hall on the 15th March 1913.The Lodge first met at the Primary School located on River Road and took its original Noongar Aboriginal name from the district which was then known as ‘Goolamrup’, today's suburb of Kelmscott.

The Lodge continued to meet at the Primary school until it obtained ownership of the current building at the corner of Fourth Road and Church Avenue; The Lodge Foundation Stone being dedicated by the then Grand Master, Most Worshipful Brother F.A McMullen on the 28th July 1927.

The Armadale Lodge has sponsored two other Lodges, (known as Daughter Lodges) Gosnells Lodge No. 225 in 1947 and the Kelmscott Lodge No.265 in 1949.

In 1960, The Serpentine Lodge No. 301, which had been sponsored by The Jarrahdale Lodge No.49 in Mundijong in 1954, moved its meeting place to the Armadale Masonic Hall to be more convenient for the majority of its members.

In the year 2000 saw the lodge in some diffeculty regarding membership numbers and the idea of a twinning arrangement with Serpentine Lodge was born; with each lodge meeting on alternative months members of each being associated members of the other lodge, thereby keeping both lodges viable in the mid term with a view of eventual view of possible amalgamation.

In April 2004, it was decided by the Brethern to official change the lodge name to The Armadale Lodge No. 94, to better reflect the location of the Lodge within the community and with a view to bring the twinning arrangement with Serpentine Lodge to finalisation.

On the 26 June 2004, The Serpentine Lodge No. 301 surrendered its Warrant thus ending the 'twinning arrangement' of the past four years and its Brethren became full members of The Armadale Lodge No.94.

The official Armadale Lodge logo commemorates this occasion by the inclusion of the ‘Serpentine Falls’.

In February 2010, The Armadale Lodge voted to act as the sponsor for a proposed new lodge which would be born out of the Gosnells and Kelmscott Lodges surrendering their respective Warrants; thus the new Heritage Lodge No 369 was concrectrated on Saturday 3rd September 2010 becoming our newest 'daugther' lodge.

Since 1913, the Lodge membership has included over 500 men of all professions and occupations, from Labourers to Orchardists, Doctors, Soldiers, Butchers and Bakers to name just a few and welcomes men of all nationalities, trades and creeds.

Freemasonry for the Interested Non-Mason

INTRODUCTION
What is this historical body, known to exist for hundreds of years, attracting some of the world's most famous men as members and still continuing to exist in today's society of increased pace, opportunity and more self centered individuals ?

What are its aims, benefits, attractions and purposes today?

Who are its members, its leaders, and what are their practices?

What goes on inside the suburban Freemasons' Lodge buildings, why the ‘dinner suited brigade’ and the little cases…

OUR FAULT?
It is probably Freemasonry's fault that you have some of these questions, as masons in the past were not encouraged to talk openly about their involvement or activities due to the misconceptions amongst the public.

Our organisation's management inherited a rather ancient mentality and it hasn't been till recent years that they have been able to adapt to the natural public expectations of openness.

Some ‘alternative’ and uninvolved authors have challenged our activities and caused a lot of confusion which is now being countered by the more educated among them, and by the growing amount of information available from various Grand Lodges and individual lodges in print and on the web.

You won't find full answers here either, as the limits of a single website are obviously restrictive and difficult to wade through.

We will attempt to answer some issues for you whilst offering further contact opportunities.

OUR WEBSITE
This Armadale Lodge website is being set up primarily for the benefit of the enquiring non-Masonic public.

It is our aim to make some information on our activities and fraternity more accessible, and to further provide an opportunity for a no-obligation meeting to discuss any interest or questions you may have in us.

We apologise to practicing Masons visiting this site as we offer nothing new to them, though they will understand our need to explain something of ourselves to the wider community.

MASONIC VALUES
Freemasonry fundamentally is a brotherhood, within which it teaches morality, self knowledge and an approach to life to make a brother a better man within himself.

It reinforces the primary family responsibilities of its members, whilst supporting an ethical and compassionate consideration for others in their lodge, the community, business relationships and society in general.

This actively includes the consideration for those less fortunate through charitable and other support roles.

It also reinforces a brother's loyalty to his country and government of the day.

Freemasonry defines itself as: ‘A peculiar system of morality, veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols.’

That is a special, identifiable order of morality, taught by the use of allegorical illustrations to the morals being supported, and further enhanced by symbolism, tied to historical, building and religious symbols significant to the member and the craft.

POLITICS & RELIGION
Freemasonry is not a political organisation; in fact politics and religion are not permitted to be spoken of in any lodge meeting.

The fact that men from both these backgrounds are attracted to masonry reflects the considered communal qualities of both rather than an opportunity to further their vocation.

It is certainly true that many famous politically motivated men and builders of a good community future have joined Masonic lodges, wherein relinquishing title for brotherhood.

Freemasonry has no bars to any personal religious beliefs as long as a member does believe in a ‘Supreme Being’.

Many representative leaders of different religious followings were and are masons, many with offices of responsibility. Freemasonry has no theology of its own, it teaches no routes to salvation, but does have some prayer and other moral teachings as part of Masonic ceremonies.

The ceremonies basically use allegorical stories and examples to illustrate and teach moral and philosophical messages to Lodge members.

SECRECY
Secrecy amongst masons is a public misunderstanding.

Like other organisations and associations our meetings are conducted in private and are for the benefit of members.

So much has been written publicly (much of it uninformed) about Freemasonry over the years that little is truly private among masons.

As masons we are precluded from using our membership for their personal gain or advancement; many Freemasons from times past felt more comfortable not to discuss their membership at all.

Nowadays, more are prepared to discuss the subject constructively when approached, although to find someone to talk to is still difficult, but a contact is available through this website.

We always welcome the opportunity to discuss Freemasonry with you.

All Masonic meeting halls are in visual suburban evidence; they can be found in the phone books and through Local Government offices.

WHY MEMBERSHIP?
Due to a lack of easily available information about its purposes and values, some men have deliberated for many years about joining the Craft. Help is available through this and other websites and resources in overcoming the difficulty.

On the other hand many join as a direct result of their own family connections (e.g. Grandfather - Father - Son), through introduction by a friend and many simply through a considered curiosity.

Members remain for many reasons, the majority for their ongoing life. Time demands are small and Masonry readily becomes part of their personal way of life.

The lessons learned through involvement and dramatic practice lead to self growth and social understanding.

A member's enjoyment is heightened by their quality fellowship with lodge brothers. Their progresses through degrees of ceremony provide opportunities to develop through challenge and responsibility.

Here at The Armadale Lodge, we enjoy our meetings and ceremonial work in the Lodge, we appreciate the chance to relate with others from similar backgrounds, the chance to socialise at the supper table after each meeting, and on occasions combine with our ladies in our social and charitable activities.

Our appreciation of freemasonry is also strengthened by the opportunities to visit other Lodges to build and renew acquaintances with other Masonic friends.

It is similarly not unusual for a man to be a member of several lodges for that fellowship.

Lodges exist around the world, like military or other single interest or vocational backgrounds, and they add to their member's depth of fellowship.

DINNER SUITS
Oh, and the dinner suits....?

Freemasonry treats all members equally; a lab assistant and a Professor side by side are measured by their true qualities, not the way they are seen, for they are both the same in black and white.

They are both fraternal brothers, are identically initiated and progressed through the ceremonies, and have equal chances to pursue further learning and rank.

The suits show respect for our ceremonies, the Craft and our ancient history. They are not compulsory however, for traditionally those lodges that meet in daylight when normally lounge suits are worn.

Dress in the tropics on the other hand, whilst still black and white, naturally does not have to include the black jacket.

The small cases carried by masons into their lodge buildings simply carry their valued ceremonial regalia, with rankings, as a method of member identification.

CONCLUSION
Freemasonry is multi-racial, multi-cultural, and is open to men of all faiths who are law abiding, of good character, and profess a belief in a ‘Supreme Being’.
